Do you struggle with:
Eating mindfully is all about slowing down and being in touch. Mindful eating includes a wide variety of eating awareness practices, such as paying attention to all or any of the following:
- Our feelings, moods, or stressors that impact eating
- Sensations and physical experiences of eating
- Hunger cues and fullness cues
- How our environment shapes our eating habits
- Smell, taste, and tactile experiences of eating
- Our thoughts and actions related to eating or not eating
- The context of what is going on at any given moment and its impact on eating
- Urges, tendencies, habits, and histories of eating
- How to slow down, savor food, and find pleasure in eating
Over consumption or restricting is sometimes based on rules, not on a biological feedback loop that only our body can provide.
Slowing down and being in touch with our eating habits and food makes a lot of sense, but can be very hard to do alone.
Slowing down is a practice. Practice takes repetition and willingness.
